About this work area

At Group Digital, we set the digital agenda to keep IKEA leading in an uncertain and fast-moving environment. We drive the development, provision and operation of our digital products and services using new and existing technology and agile delivery methods to deliver at pace. At the same time, we provide a home for digital skills to both develop and extend the technical, people and business skills needed to ensure continuous development and growth of our digital capability.

In Customer Meeting Points Web, we work on the overall user experience of IKEA.com – a website with over 4.3 billion visits per year. Here our teams are cross functional product teams that consist of four legs; Product, UX, Data and Engineering. We drive the development, provision and operation of our product and services using new and existing technology and agile delivery methods to deliver value at pace.

We are working with a lot of great technologies and we strive to stay up to date with the technology trends. Some examples of what we are currently working with are:

-React / Preact
-NodeJS
-Redis
-Typescript
-CI/CD
-Serverless
-Content Delivery Network/Edge Compute
-GCP and Amazon Web Services

The team’s work includes page performance, legal compliance (including accessibility), user interface consistency, and analytics tools to help us better understand our users’ needs.

In addition to global framework code, we work on making our users’ journeys through the site better by providing them with a consistent and usable navigation system. We also provide a stable and fun platform for our editors to build the required information architecture and content for hundreds of thousands of pages, ranging from support sections up to the home page, and all the components that run on them.

About the Market Engineering team

INGKA Group Digital provides about 50 countries with a global IKEA site. While we deliver a high-quality global platform, there will always be country-specific needs that the global team does not have the time to prioritize. Then there is the possibility for that country to develop a local solution for it and add it to the site.

To deliver to ikea.com there are many guidelines to follow to make sure that the site is secure, accessible, IKEA branded, follows ISDP, has good performance, etc.

For a country that wants to contribute to the site, it is hard to have competence in all those areas. Our Market Engineering team supports, educates, and helps the local markets to make sure their local solutions technically have the quality needed to co-exist on ikea.com. We also have our own products that we have developed. If a country does not have the capability to develop a solution, our team might be the one developing the product for them. To fit in our team, you need to enjoy talking to people all over the world, since that is a big part of our job, not only building solutions

Today the Market Engineering team consists of seven Software engineers and an Engineering manager.

You and most of the people in the team are based in Helsingborg (Sweden). We have one developer in Amsterdam (Netherlands).

Studies show that members of underrepresented communities don’t apply for jobs unless they’re 100% “qualified”. If this is part of why you hesitate to apply, we would like you to reconsider and give it a chance. Maybe your profile fits our needs much better than you think. We look forward to receiving your application.
